Designing My Little Girl's Room: A Teal LEGO Paradise!😉

Having a growing child is such a bittersweet moment. On one hand, you are proud of all their achievements and excited for what's to come. On the other hand, you are sad to see them grow so fast. My little girl is no longer a little girl, and it's time for me to channel my inner designer to give her a new room. She's smart, sassy, and has a passion for Legos, and I want her room to reflect that. Join me on an adventure as we navigate the highs and lows of creating a pre-teen's room paradise. We'll weave her favorite colors into the mix and even make space for those oh-so-important Legos. Let's make this room her personal wonderland! 🌈🏰

As someone who loves designing and is a virtual interior designer, I knew step one in giving my daughter's room a makeover was creating a mood board. But, you know how it goes, things never go as planned, especially when kids are involved. I was honestly surprised when my daughter said she wanted a floating bed - I wasn't completely sold on it. But hey, who am I to stand in the way of her dreams? Luckily, my daughter has this uncanny ability to curate a Pinterest board like the pros, so I'm not worried about her decision-making skills. It's more about her being able to let go of ideas on her mood board that I think might be a challenge. And get this, she actually thinks her budget is like seven to ten million dollars for just one room. Seriously, whose kid is this? I had her fill out my super detailed virtual design questionnaire that I give to all my clients, and let me tell you, her responses had me cracking up. Apparently, she wants loads of mirrors, pictures of a 1972 Skyline car (thanks Dad), and a whole bunch of cozy glam finishes. Let's see if I can make her lofty design dreams come true for this super cool tween.

When it comes to picking colors, I always suggest getting inspired by the existing space or the latest addition to the room. But for kids, it's easier to start with a favorite color and go from there. My daughter loves teal and purple, so we decided to make teal the main accent color. It's gonna be a teal paradise! And to add a touch of luxury, we're painting the whole room in teal. Because my daughter is a huge HGTV fan like me, she's all about wallpaper accents. We're thinking of putting it on the ceiling or a main wall behind the bed to make the room pop. We might also add some pops of purple for a playful vibe.

My daughter is obsessed with Legos (we binge-watched all seasons of LegoMasters - you feel me?). And let me tell you, these things seem to multiply like bunnies or toys in Toy Story. Seriously, we pick them up and poof! They reappear magically. But hey, we knew Legos had to be a big part of her room design. So, we decided to create a super cool Lego-themed accent wall with her name spelled out using different Lego pieces. Talk about Vegas vibes, we might even add neon lights behind her floating bed - we're going all out! Gotta keep hustling at my day job to pay for this, though, haha. The Lego accent wall will be the ultimate creativity hub for her, right there in the corner of her massive room. Fingers crossed the Legos stay contained, but let's be real, parents know how that goes. So, we need a storage solution for the billion Lego colors. Thinking of wall-attached bin storage as the perfect backdrop for showcasing all her Lego creations. Exciting and necessary!

So now that we've got the main color and room theme nailed down, we can get a little creative with the furniture. And let's not forget the most important part for me - storage! She's all about that floating-swing-like-indoor-playground vibe, and I totally get it. But hey, reality check, we're gonna need some cool furniture and decor that can grow with my daughter into her gasp full teenage years (yikes, hormones!). She's got her heart set on a brass floating four-poster bed frame for that elegant and timeless look - she's super classy like that. We threw in a plush rug to make things cozy, and some fun throw pillows with Lego or African girl themes to tie in the teal and purple color scheme. Oh, and we're also gonna jazz up one of her 12ft walls with a gallery wall of hip art prints. Gonna make those walls pop!

Hey, so sometimes kids these days have to tackle homework – ugh, it's a tearful process, but it's gotta be done. That's why we're adding this awesome desk that can pull double duty for learning and epic Lego building. And because I'm the "boring mom," we couldn't forget about organization. My daughter has this knack for collecting things and making a big ol' mess, so we knew we needed lots of storage. We decided to throw in these funky-shaped bookshelves to display her Lego masterpieces, along with a cool desk featuring clear handles for some room styling. We'll even carry on these handles in her bathroom and bedside tables to keep a consistent vibe. Plus, this desk will be perfect for storing art supplies and all those random things that seem to disappear into a desk – you know, the stuff that magically reappears when parents yell "clean up your room!" Hoping we won't have to move again anytime soon; four times in a year is quite enough!

Designing my daughter's room was a blast! It had its fair share of challenges, from nailing the mood board to incorporating her love for Legos. Space planning the furniture and creating a gallery wall was no easy feat either, but we did it and made her room absolutely unstoppable! Oh, and I added some inspirational items too, to keep those positive vibes going even in her dreams. 😉

I'm beyond excited that we could create a space that truly reflects my daughter's personality, passions, and dreams. Honestly, the floating bed threw me off a bit, but with a little creativity and compromise, we managed to make it work in the design. And let me tell you, the teal and purple color scheme tied everything together with an elegant vibe that will grow with her. Plus, that Lego accent wall adds an awesome playful touch! 🎨

I hope this blog has inspired you and given you some useful tips for designing your little girl's room. Just remember, make sure to incorporate your child's unique personality and passions to create a space they'll absolutely adore for years to come. 🌟
