My Worst Design Bloopers!

No Judgement Zone!

We've all been there. You're excited to start a new home improvement project, but something goes wrong. Maybe you picked the wrong paint color, or your tile looks wonky. These design blunders are bound to happen, but that doesn't make them any less frustrating. To make you feel better, we've compiled a list of some of the most common design bloopers, some are mine. Take a look and see if you can avoid making these same mistakes in your own home!

The worst paint job in history

After attempting one of the most ill-fated paint jobs in history, again when I was in my med school apartment (are you sensing a theme here), I can confidently conclude that I should stick to my day job! Despite so much so wrong with this painting project - not having patience to put up frog tape, so many gaps where the paint just didn't stick - the final result was a splotchy, botched mess that stood out like an eyesore on an otherwise pristine wall. It took a long time and significant tearful effort (yes, I do so weep during art projects) to get it all painted and ready, but that just served as testament as to why I should leave painting to the professionals from now on.

The most hideous lamp you can imagine

It was a sight to behold - the most hideous lamp I've ever seen. It was proudly placed in a corner of the bedroom until it wasn't so proud anymore. It had become chipped, dented, and just plain sad looking. It didn't even give out much light, but that was beside the point when you got close enough to notice its off-putting and ugly design. One should always be cautious about the lamps they buy, for you never know if it'll turn into the monster of your home decor nightmares.

The most tacky wallpaper border you've ever seen

The most tacky wallpaper border I've ever seen was definitely one I installed my medical school apartment. It was a wallpaper border with a very large and crooked floral design that honestly did not match the room one bit. It seemed like it had been hastily installed ( by me) because there were portions sticking out more than others. Needless to say, it was so, so ugly that 'fugly' is the only way to properly describe its offensiveness. All in all, this wallpaper border was an eyesore that made me feel embarrassed just looking at it!

The most comfortable chair you've ever sat in but its "fugly"

I'm sure you've all encountered "fugly" but comfortable chairs at some point in your life. It's like the universe can't make up its mind - why can't these chairs be design-pretty and provide luxurious cushioned comfort? Yet, here I am sitting in one of these "fugly"-comfortable chairs for hours on end, blogging like I do now. Wait a minute...is this chair "fugly" or is just misunderstood? Well, whatever the case may be my tush is grateful for the soft cushioning of my "fugly" throne.

When all you do is style and decorate living spaces, it's difficult to not make a mistake once in a while! From the world’s ugliest couch to the most comfortably ugly chair you’ve ever sat in, I am sure you can all relate with my many design blunders! Now that you have learned from five of my biggest styling fails, it is time to put this knowledge into action and help make all of your homes beautiful. Well I am here to turn your "blah to beautiful" so learn from all my horrible design bloopers over the years: an ugly couch, an eyesore of wallpaper, an awful lamp and a terrible paint job can still be turned into something beautiful. So let me help create a stunning space for you - no more mistakes here! And if anything else, remember one thing - You can easily make anything look even better than my design bloopers!
